Street Fighter 2V (volume one)

I recently decided to get myself an old anime, because I was tired of wait for new shows to release one episode each week. Why’ll looking, I came across Street Fighter II, Vol. 1, an old anime made in the year 1995 (and yes people it not a movie it’s an anime series). The volume 1 I got has 8 episodes; each episode is about 23 minutes.

The anime is about 17 year old Ryu who lives somewhere in Japan (a place with no cities but a lot of trees). One day Ryu gets a letter with a plane ticket from his childhood friend Ken, telling him to come to America and visit. Ryu gets into a plane for the first and visits his friend Ken (did I tell you that can is rich and is a red head in this anime). On his first night in America Ryu gets into a fight and gets bitten up by Guile. After this experience with Guile, Ryu and Ken decide to travel all over the world to fight people like Guile (street fighters).
I found that the Ryu in this anime is completely different from the other Ryu’s, (who are the strong and silent types). This Ryu is not afraid to speak his mind, his more down to earth and his always ready to fight. The fights are amazing for an old anime, full of hardcore fights. I’m glade to say that I found no traces of the dark hadou (all the street fighter movies talk about the dark hadou). Why’ll watch this series I liked the Japanese tracks better, because the Japanese voices added more emotion to the series. Street Fighter II, Vol. 1 has both dubbed and Japanese track with subtitle. For me this was a good anime worth watching.(the number of copies available is limited)

AFRO SAMURAI – RESURRECTION

Summary

Afro Samurai resurrection is a movie, which is also known as Afro samurai season 2. It’s a sequel to the original series by the same name (Afro samurai). The movie continues after what happened in the first series, where Afro kills anyone who gets in his way to revenge and the number 1 head band. As the series came to an end Afro confronts the owner of the number 1 head band and the person who killed his farther. The movie begins after Afro became owner of the number 1 head band. Losing his will to fight and to kill Afro goes into solitude, leaving his head band by his father's grave. While in solitude Afro is attacked by Sio and Jinno, who take the head band and the skull of his father. Now Afro must start all over again and fight his way back to the top.

DVD Review

I was lucky enough to get the director’s cut version of the movie, which consisted of two discs. The picture quality is pretty good but it does not make an Anime good . The sound in this movie is clear; the music is pretty good too. Now let’s go to the storyline which was great in the beginning and got less exciting towards the end. The only scene I enjoyed was when Afro fought with the new number 2, who had greater skill then him. I felt that the number 2 holder didn’t have to die, because he was only trying to hide the head band to stop the killings. In the end I enjoyed the movie in directors cut; I would give this DVD and movie 6 out of 10.

Saint Seiya – The Lost Canvas (Follow-up)

Get this, in Saint Seiya the lost canvas there are bronze cloths but some of them are silver in color like Tenma’s. I took the liberty to show some pictures from the ova.

You wish I was bronze (Tenma as a bronze knight).

Is this Bleach or what (The gold knights, ready to serve Athena).

Are you my long lost brother? (Tenma meets his rival).

Alone (Hades), Sasha (Athena) and Tenma (Pegasus) together as a big happy family.

I see, you have been busy Alone (Tenma finds out that Alone is Hades).

I should have listened to my doctor (Hades kills his old friend Tenma without much effort).

Where are you going (Tenma finds Sasha now known as Athena).

Saint Seiya – The lost canvas (OVA)

This ova was released last year (2009) in June, it has 13 episodes so far. I have been putting off watching this ova for a long time. A friend that I call Otaku-prime gave me a copy of saint seiya the lost canvas to watch (how thoughtful). This article is for does that are like me and didn’t watch the ova.
When I started watching this series, I was astonished to find that main characters name was not Seiya instead it Tenma (but their cloths go by the same name). The story begins 250 years before the original Saint Seiya, with Tenma as child and he having a friend called Alone who looks more like a girl (Alone is kind as you would expect). This ova revolves around Tenma, Alone and Sasha who got adopted before the start of the series (did I forget to tell that they are orphans). In the first two episodes I found out that Tenma was the Pegasus, Sasha is Athena and get this, Alone the weakest is Hades. So far in series I have not seen any bronze cloths, it seems like the starting point is the silver not like the original saint seiya.
I think this saint seiya may be better than the original (I maybe saying this because I have not seen the original series in years). Another thing that surprised was the opening theme; I was song in English not Japanese and the end in Japanese (I like ending song more though).
If you haven’t watched Saint Seiya the lost canvas, what are you waiting for?

High school of the Dead taken overboard

High school of the dead is another manga turn anime, which makes its debut in Japan on the 5th of July 2010.
There has been a lot of hype on the net about this anime. Blogs and sites have been telling people that this may be the next big title. The anime talks about Takashi Komuro who is a normal high school boy, until an infection breaks out and turns people into zombie-like creatures. Along with his friend and a school nurse, they fight their way out and continue their journey to find out what exactly has happened to the world.
I think this kind of anime would have made a good movie, because these types of storylines happen between a day’s period and week. People can you tell me how humans can fight zombies for whole 12 full episodes (unless the anime has a lot of flashbacks). Anyway I hope the anime proves me wrong, it’s always nice when people try something different (even if they know it may fail).

Cromartie High School (YEAH!!!)

Cromartie High School also known as Sakigake !! Kuromati Koko, is a comedy manga by Eiji Nonaka. A few days ago, I got my hand on copy of the infamous Cromartie High School volume one Dvd. At first glance the dvd cover looks like any other anime cover should look (the cover is for covering all the madness inside). This anime is not half bad; it’s just that you may need a somewhat mature or twisted sense of humor. The story is about Takashi Kamiyama, a straight ‘A’ student who for some odd reason enrolles in a high full of dropouts and bad asses. After enrolling at Cromartie, Kamiyama tries to takeover the school with his smarts. In the first week of school, Kamiyama makes weird friends and weirder enemies. Although each episode runs for approximately 11 minute and 50 seconds it’s very entertaining. In this volume I get 8 episodes, which all this add up to 4 episodes if they went cut to 11 minutes each. The picture quality is good and I would say the same for sound. Volume 1 has both dub and Japanese tracks with English subs. I really enjoyed the opening them song. I give this anime 7 out of 10. (I think it better for anyone else to get the full Boxset)

Arakawa under the Bridge Second Season Confirmed

The first season of the series consisting of 13 episodes, produced by Shaft and directed by Akiyuki Shibu.

As the first season came to a close, a second season was confirmed. I really cannot say that I’m glade a second season is on its way. The first season of Arakawa had different pace from other anime, by means of the storyline falling into place almost perfectly (note: I said “almost perfectly”, because nothing is perfect).

Pulling off a new season is a hard thing too, when the first season was a huge success (aaaaah, how can someone top the rich guy meets homeless hot girl theme). In my opinion only one out of ten anime can pull a new season off (more like fishing without bait).
Remember people I didn’t say, that the second season of Arakawa under the bridge would be a bust.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Limited Edition)

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Limited Edition)

Another great anime by Madhouse and stunning visuals. The picture alone on the Dvd cover was enough to get my attention. This is a great buy, most sites rate this dvd 4.5 out of 5.0. So if you’re look for something special to add to you anime collection, I would recommend this Dvd. Get it on special at amazon.
