I’m impressed with Hunter X Hunter ant arc and its recent episode 131. As a long time Anime fan I haven’t been impressed in a long time. Hunter X Hunter episode 131 had that one thing that most anime lack in this day and age, proper character development.
Gon filled with grief and anger over the death Kite goes through a metamorphosis to the peak of his power to take revenge on the killer Neferpitou. The change didn’t feel like most anime fan would say is an a** pull Gon just did the same thing as Kurapika but instead of putting his heart on the line he used his nen powers meaning he would lose the ability to be a Hunter, for a second there I thought we were going to get a dark Gon but I was wrong and I’m glad I was. I think the purpose of this episode was to get us use to the idea of Gon actually killing someone or something, what I mean is remember when Gon killed his first Chimera Ant it just felt awkward and with his second he hesitated. I haven’t read the manga yet but I’m sure this was crucial in him becoming a real hunter.
The animation was well done for this episode especially during Gon’s transformation. I cannot believe that once I thought of skipping this anime, now I will stop writing before I spoil the whole episode.
